“Speak up, I can’t hear you. Your breath is so bad it made my ears numb!”
I ran in a Superhero 5K and stretched the definition of “superhero” to include Vanellope von Schweetz from “Wreck It Ralph” (glitches count, too).
This was fairly easy to assemble – although I cheated slightly and bought the hair accessories from Etsy. I would have tried to make those pieces if I had more time leading up to the race. C’est la vie.
- Teal/mint leggings (I ordered these on Amazon)
- Teal sweatshirt (I ordered this on Amazon)
- Brown skirt – fun fact, it’s supposed to be a Reese peanut butter cup wrapper! (I ordered this on Amazon)
- Pink fabric or ribbons
- White and black fabric paint
- Hair accessories (I purchased mine from Amazon)
I used fabric paint to add the stripes to the leggings. If you have thinner material / more like tights, the trick is to keep them stretched out as you’re painting them – otherwise the paint will stretch out too much when you wear them.
Then, use the pink fabric or ribbons to add decorative stitches over the front pocket. You can also replace the string that came with the hood with the pink to match.
That’s it — super simple!
I also helped Wreck-It Ralph and Fix-It Felix with their ensembles. Ralph only required a couple of Amazon purchases, and I used my Silhouette machine to make Felix’s hat with some iron-on flocked vinyl. We also bought a toy hammer and spray painted it gold.
